About This Course

Nowadays, with the world is becoming smaller due to the existence of technology and its impacts, it is necessary for us to learn other language. For Southeast Asian citizens, it is good to start learning our neighboring countries’ language. 

Here, you are introduced to some basic conversation in Lao language. It will be useful to learn it before you visit Laos. It is always useful to know some basic words or phrases and can be a rewarding experience to be able to speak to local people in their native tongue while travelling in the country. You’ll also impress them if you try to use a little Lao when you meet and maybe have some fun trying.

Topic 1: Greetings

After watching this video and practice it yourself, you will be able to:

• greet other people properly, 
• ask for someone’s name, 
• ask someone to repeat what was said, 
• use expressions excuse me and thank you appropriately, 
• and use pronouns correctly for first person, second person, and third person

Topic 2: Where do you come from?

After watching this video and practice it yourself, you will be able to:
discuss information on where someone is from, specifically:

• answer and ask questions about someone’s place of origin, including country, state, city, and town
• recognize the name of countries
• recognize the names of major cities and provinces in Laos
• use basic personal pronouns
• respond affirmatively to questions
• respond negatively to questions

Topic 3: Ordering food 

After watching this video and practice it yourself, you will be able to:

• order dishes and beverages
• ask for a bill

Topic 4: Direction 

After watching this video and practice it yourself, you will be able to:

• ask for directions
• follow directions
• give directions
• use appropriate prepositions
